Bump is building the neighborhood coffee shop for the rest of us.
For us, the neighborhood coffee shop is more than a place to grab a cup. It’s where a lot of people start their day: a coffee on the way to work, breakfast before school, a quick stop between errands. It’s one of the few places where everyone in town ends up standing in the same line.
Bump started after a trip to Nicaragua in 2014. The coffee was simple, the food was simple, and the people serving it were genuinely happy you were there. Back home, there was plenty of good coffee, but it wasn’t consistent and the service often felt like an afterthought. Bump was built to offer both: high quality coffee and real hospitality, every time.
Every cup is hand-poured and made to order, with coffee that comes mostly from Nayarit, Mexico and is roasted every week in North County. Every empanada is folded by hand and baked fresh every day. It’s quick, it’s grab and go, and it’s the same every time you come in. Our philosophy is captured in two words: Consistently good.
At the end of the day, I wanted to build cool coffee shops. A place for people to gather and get consistent, high quality coffee and empanadas. As we grow into more neighborhoods, ship more coffee and keep adding merch, Field Notes and the podcast, the mission stays the same: to be the most trusted neighborhood coffee brand on the West Coast, and a place that feels like home in every community we serve.
I love what we’re building, and I can’t wait to keep it movin’.
